I met Roberto Viani in 1982, on the occasion of an exhibition at the Berlin Art Academy, where he already proved to have a firm artistic identity and a very personal expressiveness. The following year, it was not a surprise when I saw some of his paintings in a friend's house in Los Angeles: they told me that in California he was in touch with some architects and he was much appreciated by collectors and rich buyers.
After a few years, always searching for his emotional roots, he started up a new artistic path that led him beyond figurative art, and he used the most modern communication channels as the most suitable means to promote and combine creative impulse and traditional flavours, to link art and food, soul and senses. I have recently visited his lovely inn: Locanda Viani, a guest house where he has created a permanent exhibition where you can soak up tradition, warm family atmosphere, passion for art.
